A couple days ago, I watched Michael Moore’s “Sicko” documentary on the health system in the United States and how it compares to other countries like Canada, London and France. I was so emotional about it that I vowed to move out of the US when I was financially able to. What was I thinking? After careful consideration and remembering what I read in a book called “30 Days To Taming Your Tongue” by Deborah Pegues, I realized that this was not the answer. Running away to another country would only ease my immediate discomfort disgust with the health care system in the US. I watched the 2009 NAACP Image Awards last night and when I saw tears flowing from the eyes of Al Gore, a former US Vice President, it made me change my tune.

There are two things in life that are constant – time and change. It is true. We live in change every day. Whether it is change in our lives or change in time, we live in these constants daily. Yesterday marked a change in history that will forever be remembered. Our 44Th President was sworn into office yesterday (twice actually) amid a crowd of more than 1.5 million people, the largest ever to witness a Presidential Inauguration at Capital Hill. Surprisingly enough, that was not the only piece of history that was written yesterday. January 20th, 2009 marked the day that America saw it’s first Black President take office. President Barack Obama took his oath and delivered an inspiring yet powerful Inaugural Address.
